Repent of Sexual Immorality

The Bible is very clear that sexual immorality is a sin. There are many listings of sexually immoral acts which are sins. Sins are things we are not supposed to do. Sins are evil. Jesus forgives us of sins, but He wants us to continue forth and do them no more. This is what repentance means.

From that time Jesus began to preach his message: “Turn away from your sins, because the Kingdom of heaven is near.”

Matthew 4:17 (GNT).

I am all about goodness and love. I want everyone to get to Heaven. When I affirm on a Biblical basis that sexual immorality is a sin I am not hating anyone. I would only be a hater if I said the lie that so many want to hear. I do my best not to lie. I can’t even remember the last time I lied. It may have been 16 years ago unless you count agreeing to read the “Terms of Service” for software. The devil is a liar and lying is a sin. In fact, he is known as the Father of Lies. Lying is a sin even if it is what they want to hear. I would not lie for the cause of truth. God is real. Jesus is LORD. God loves you. He wants you to be saved. He does not want you to be lost to hell. This is why I preach that you should follow Jesus. This is why I preach the truth that sexual immorality is a sin. It is because I love you too much to tell you a lie.

Some say, “Hey if you follow Jesus, you’re free to be as bad as you want to be. Jesus forgives sins, so I will not clean up my act.” That is a false gospel though. Paul warns us false gospel preachers will get damned to hell. We actually have to try and obey Jesus to be saved. Repentance is an act of avoiding sin with all we have. With all our heart, strength, mind and soul, we are to resist sin. With all our heart, strength, mind and soul, we are to do good to others. We fail, but the act of trying shows that we are obeying Jesus.

7 Actually, there is no “other gospel,” but I say this because there are some people who are upsetting you and trying to change the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel that is different from the one we preached to you, may he be condemned to hell! 9 We have said it before, and now I say it again: if anyone preaches to you a gospel that is different from the one you accepted, may he be condemned to hell!

Galatians 1:7-9 (GNT).

Jesus forgives sins. This should not be exploited. It is like having a wife who forgives you of a past affair and she is always going to be forgiving. You don’t keep sleeping with other women to exploit your position. You take it as a thing of dire thankfulness and you do your best in every way to stay faithful.

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and yet don’t do what I tell you? 47 Anyone who comes to me and listens to my words and obeys them—I will show you what he is like. 48 He is like a man who, in building his house, dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. The river flooded over and hit that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But anyone who hears my words and does not obey them is like a man who built his house without laying a foundation; when the flood hit that house it fell at once—and what a terrible crash that was!”

Luke 6:46-49 (GNT).

21 “Not everyone who calls me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do. 22 When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God’s message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!’ 23 Then I will say to them, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!’

Matthew 7:21-23 (GNT).

You are saved by faith alone. Acts do not save you. You cannot give millions of dollars to the church and sleep around with women who aren’t your wife. A philanthropic philanderer will not make it to Heaven if he doesn’t have Jesus, even if he helps the church! You are saved by faith in Jesus alone, but you still must try and obey him. You can’t do all the evil you want. To think you have a license to sin and do evil is a false gospel and will likely land you and the one who taught you that in hell.

Since we know sin is to avoid, we cannot go to God and ask Him to bless our evil. If we ask God to bless our evil, to go into his holy places and demand him to obey our immorality, that is even more grave evil. When the church makes it a policy to do this, it is even more abominable evil. In 2015, PCUSA corporate did just that! It leads to schism: pastors retiring and churches being bought out from corporate.

4 The Sovereign LORD says,”People of Israel, go to the holy place in Bethel and sin, if you must! Go to Gilgal and sin with all your might!”

Amos 4:4 (GNT).

Examine the above scripture. God is not happy when people sin with all they can. He was so upset with the people at the time, they brought upon their own destruction. When you come to the altar and ask God to bless you in your sin, that is pure evil. It is even eviler than the sin by itself.

Sexual immorality of many kinds is found in the Bible. There are lists of sexually forbidden practices which lead to the death of your soul. Jesus wants you to live. Jesus affirms the teachings of scripture. At the end of this article, I will list some scripture verses showing that the Bible and God oppose the 2015 PCUSA corporate ruling.

When someone teaches the lie, “Everything will be okay no matter what sexual immorality you do.”, they jeopardize their own soul’s destiny and the victim they are lying to. That is another false gospel that can lead you to hell. You have to hate someone really bad to lie to them about their eternal destiny. The loving thing is to teach that God and the Bible are right in that we should resist sexual immorality.

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ 28 But now I tell you: anyone who looks at a woman and wants to possess her is guilty of committing adultery with her in his heart. 29 So if your right eye causes you to sin, take it out and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose a part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell. 30 If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose one of your limbs than to have your whole body go off to hell.

Matthew 5:27-30 (GNT).

If it is better to not have eyes than be sexually immoral… If it is better to not have hands, can we restrain ourselves? It is possible to abstain for the cause of purity, goodness, and love. In this time where the devil is corrupting our entire society with sexual immorality, it is one of the elect’s trials to resist temptation also.

6 I am surprised at you! In no time at all you are deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ, and are accepting another gospel. Actually there is no “other gospel,” but I say this because there are some 7 people who are upsetting you and trying to change the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel that is different from the one we preached to you, may he be condemned to hell! 9 We have said it before, and now I say it again: If anyone preaches to you a gospel that is different from the one you accepted, may he be condemned to hell!

Galatians 1:6-9 (GNT).

How hateful it is to say a lie then! The true church who loves the sexually immoral does not lie to them and say everything will be fine! That is like personally driving them to hell oneself. By the way, their vehicle doesn’t return. They stay in hell there themselves with everyone they bring along if they teach the lie that sexual immorality is not a sin. They are teaching a false gospel. One has to be an extreme hater to want to go to hell and take people with you by telling them a lie.

The loving thing to do is to tell people the truth. Tell people that the Bible says in many, many places that sexual immorality is a sin. Tell people they should resist sin. Tell men they should save it for their wife and women they should save it for their husband. To treat your sexual relations as holy, pure, and in God’s will invites God’s blessings. If people cannot marry, then abstain from everything. The lack of pleasure is not pain. I abstain the best I can personally. Many of us are called to this total abstinence in these troubling times of severe sexual immorality and rebellion. Long term abstinence and loneliness is one of those troubling trials from the devil, but when persevering it with faith and discipline, you bring glory to God. And God will reward you.

Supplemental Scripture Verse References & Commentary

There are many because there are many places that the Bible speaks of God teaching us not to be sexually immoral. After reading the Bible, you cannot honestly say you didn’t know God said not to be sexually immoral.

9 Surely you know that the wicked will not possess God’s Kingdom. Do not fool yourselves; people who are immoral or who worship idols or are adulterers or homosexual perverts 10 or who steal or are greedy or are drunkards or who slander others or are thieves-none of these will possess God’s Kingdom. 11 Some of you were like that. But you have been purified from sin; you have been dedicated to God; you have been put right with God by the LORD Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11(GNT).

Commentary from Jim: We have all sinned. Jesus forgives us of sins. Stop sinning. If you are sexually immoral, abstain from everything. Do nothing remotely sexual. Abstain from everything. The lack of pleasure is not pain. The resisting of sin wins battles for the cause of good vs evil.

Commentary from Victor: Starving the flesh regularly improves our ability to resist sexual iniquity in the future. So we shouldn’t be discouraged at the initial difficulty of overcoming our pet sins. The Holy Spirit will assist us to stay faithful to God’s commands for the long haul.

22 “No man is to have sexual relations with another man; God hates that.

Leviticus 18:22 (GNT).

17 “Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true.

Matthew 5:17 (GNT).

Commentary from Jim: People who want to invalidate scripture that Jesus did not invalidate will often quote things about mixed fabrics and beers. Anyone who even quotes those two lines, you should ignore because they’re inventing new sayings to invalidate what Jesus did not invalidate. What is a sin in the Old Testament is still a sin. Except for foods to be eaten. Peter was given a vision by God in his instructions to call everyone in the world to faith, not just the Jewish people.

“We know that the Law is good if it is used as it should be used. It must be remembered, of course, that laws are made, not for good people, but for lawbreakers and criminals, for the godless and sinful, for those who are not religious or spiritual, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the immoral, for sexual perverts, for kidnappers, for those who lie and give false testimony or who do anything else contrary to sound doctrine. 11 That teaching is found in the gospel that was entrusted to me to announce, the Good News from the glorious and blessed God.

1 Timothy 1:8-11 (GNT).

It is true that we live in the world, but we do not fight from worldly motives. The weapons we use in our fight are not the world’s weapons but God’s powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ. And after you have proved your complete loyalty, we will be ready to punish any act of disloyalty.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (GNT).

38 “You have heard that is was said,‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But now I tell you: Do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too. 40 And if someone takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well”

Matthew 5:38-40 (GNT).

Commentary from Jim: Jesus is preaching forgiveness for sins here. If someone wrongs you, do not pay them back with a wrong. This is the new way of moving forward since Jesus. Do everything in love. People are no longer to be put to death for their sins. Instead, grace and forgiveness are to be offered. People even today often confuse the next Old Testament verse that the sexually immoral should receive capital punishment. Jesus with His grace and forgiveness made the times less brutal, and capital punishment should no longer be employed under these circumstances. This next verse does, however; explain how severe the act of sexual immorality is in God’s reality.

13 If a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a disgusting thing, and both shall be put to death. They are responsible for their own death.

Leviticus 20:13 (GNT).

1 “False prophets appeared in the past among the people, and in the same way false teachers will appear among you. They will bring in destructive, untrue doctrines, and will deny the Master who redeemed them, and so they will bring upon themselves sudden destruction. Even so, many will follow their immoral ways; and because of what they do, others will speak evil of the Way of truth. In their greed these false teachers will make a profit out of telling you made-up stories. For a long time now their Judge has been ready, and their Destroyer has been wide awake! God did not spare the angels who sinned, but threw them into hell, where they are kept chained in darkness, waiting for the Day of Judgment. God did not spare the ancient world, but brought the flood on the world of godless people; the only ones he saved were Noah, who preached righteousness, and seven other people. God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, destroying them with fire, and made them an example of what will happen to the godless. He rescued Lot, a good man, who was distressed by the immoral conduct of lawless people. That good man lived among them, and day after day he suffered agony as he saw and heard their evil actions. And so the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials and how to keep the wicked under punishment for the Day of Judgment, 10 especially those who follow their filthy bodily lusts and despise God’s authority. These false teachers are bold and arrogant, and show no respect for the glorious beings above; instead, they insult them. 11 Even the angels, who are so much stronger and mightier than these false teachers, do not accuse them with insults in the presence of the Lord. 12 But these people act by instinct, like wild animals born to be captured and killed; they attack with insults anything they do not understand. They will be destroyed like wild animals, 13 and they will be paid with suffering for the suffering they have caused. Pleasure for them is to do anything in broad daylight that will satisfy their bodily appetites; they are a shame and a disgrace as they join you in your meals, all the while enjoying their deceitful ways! 14 They want to look for nothing but the chance to commit adultery; their appetite for sin is never satisfied. They lead weak people into a trap. Their hearts are trained to be greedy. They are under God’s curse! 15 They have left the straight path and have lost their way; they have followed the path taken by Balaam son of Beor, who loved the money he would get for doing wrong 16 and was rebuked for his sin. His donkey spoke with a human voice and stopped the prophet’s insane action. 17 These people are like dried-up springs, like clouds blown along by a storm; God has reserved a place for them in the deepest darkness. 18 They make proud and stupid statements, and use immoral bodily lusts to trap those who are just beginning to escape from among people who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom while they themselves are slaves of destructive habits—for we are slaves of anything that has conquered us. 20 If people have escaped from the corrupting forces of the world through their knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and then are again caught and conquered by them, such people are in worse condition at the end than they were at the beginning. 21 It would have been much better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than to know it and then turn away from the sacred command that was given them. 22 What happened to them shows that the proverbs are true: “A dog goes back to what it has vomited” and “A pig that has been washed goes back to roll in the mud.”

2 Peter 2:1-22 (GNT).

My dear friends, I was doing my best to write to you about the salvation we share in common, when I felt the need of writing at once to encourage you to fight on for the faith which once and for all God has given to his people. For some godless people have slipped in unnoticed among us, persons who distort the message about the grace of our God in order to excuse their immoral ways, and who reject Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord. Long ago the Scriptures predicted the condemnation they have received.

For even though you know all this, I want to remind you of how the Lord[a] once rescued the people of Israel from Egypt, but afterward destroyed those who did not believe. Remember the angels who did not stay within the limits of their proper authority, but abandoned their own dwelling place: they are bound with eternal chains in the darkness below, where God is keeping them for that great Day on which they will be condemned. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah, and the nearby towns, whose people acted as those angels did and indulged in sexual immorality and perversion: they suffer the punishment of eternal fire as a plain warning to all.

In the same way also, these people have visions which make them sin against their own bodies; they despise God’s authority and insult the glorious beings above. Not even the chief angel Michael did this. In his quarrel with the Devil, when they argued about who would have the body of Moses, Michael did not dare condemn the Devil with insulting words, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these people attack with insults anything they do not understand; and those things that they know by instinct, like wild animals, are the very things that destroy them. 11 How terrible for them! They have followed the way that Cain took. For the sake of money they have given themselves over to the error that Balaam committed. They have rebelled as Korah rebelled, and like him they are destroyed. 12 With their shameless carousing they are like dirty spots in your fellowship meals. They take care only of themselves. They are like clouds carried along by the wind, but bringing no rain. They are like trees that bear no fruit, even in autumn, trees that have been pulled up by the roots and are completely dead. 13 They are like wild waves of the sea, with their shameful deeds showing up like foam. They are like wandering stars, for whom God has reserved a place forever in the deepest darkness.

14 It was Enoch, the seventh direct descendant from Adam, who long ago prophesied this about them: “The Lord will come with many thousands of his holy angels 15 to bring judgment on all, to condemn them all for the godless deeds they have performed and for all the terrible words that godless sinners have spoken against him!”

16 These people are always grumbling and blaming others; they follow their own evil desires; they brag about themselves and flatter others in order to get their own way.

17 But remember, my friends, what you were told in the past by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said to you, “When the last days come, people will appear who will make fun of you, people who follow their own godless desires.” 19 These are the people who cause divisions, who are controlled by their natural desires, who do not have the Spirit. 20 But you, my friends, keep on building yourselves up on your most sacred faith. Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, 21 and keep yourselves in the love of God, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy to give you eternal life.

22 Show mercy toward those who have doubts; 23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; and to others show mercy mixed with fear, but hate their very clothes, stained by their sinful lusts.

24 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to bring you faultless and joyful before his glorious presence— 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, might, and authority, from all ages past, and now, and forever and ever! Amen.

Jude 1:1-25 (GNT).

18 I have told you this many times before, and now I repeat it with tears: there are many whose lives make them enemies of Christ’s death on the cross. 19 They are going to end up in hell, because their god is their bodily desires. They are proud of what they should be ashamed of, and they think only of things that belong to this world.

Philippians 3:18-19 (GNT).

The Spirit took control of me, and the angel carried me to a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a red beast that had names insulting to God written all over it; the beast had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and covered with gold ornaments, precious stones, and pearls. In her hand she held a gold cup full of obscene and filthy things, the result of her immorality. On her forehead was written a name that has a secret meaning: “Great Babylon, the mother of all prostitutes and perverts in the world.” And I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God’s people and the blood of those who were killed because they had been loyal to Jesus.

Revelations 7:3-15 (GNT).

Those who win the victory will receive this from me: I will be their God, and they will be my children. But cowards, traitors, perverts, murderers, the immoral, those who practice magic, those who worship idols, and all liars—the place for them is the lake burning with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Revelations 21:7-8 (GNT).

14 Happy are those who wash their robes clean and so have the right to eat the fruit from the tree of life and to go through the gates into the city. 15 But outside the city are the perverts and those who practice magic, the immoral and the murderers, those who worship idols and those who are liars both in words and deeds.

Revelations 22:14-15 (GNT).

Closing Statement by Jim:

We are saying that everyone should try and resist sin with all their will. We should try and not sin. We should try and not do sexually immoral things. If we as teachers, slip up, this does not make us hypocrites. We are saying to try and avoid committing sexual sin. But if any of us fails Jesus still forgives. We’re only teaching that you try to resist sin with God’s help. We’re teaching what you should do as the Bible teaches. We are not saying if you fail, you’re going to hell. We’re saying that if you permanently abandon the teachings of Jesus to bask in sinful pleasure instead, you can wind up in hell. If you tell people that sexual immorality is no longer sin in 2015, after it is a sin for thousands of years and defy the Almighty God, you can wind up in hell. If you try and resist, but fail, Jesus still forgives.
