God has won the victory with Jesus’ death on the cross. The victory is secure, and time is playing out as the angels marvel at how people’s lives turn around through the grace of Jesus.
You might be of high or low standing in the eyes of others in this world. I see a lot of people who have trouble of being in massive debt coming out of college and there being no jobs. I think these people are in great danger of having bad self esteem because they may mistakenly judge themselves by how the world judges them. Don’t do that. God doesn’t look at your socioeconomic status and judge you by it. God cares how much you love and are good to others. Besides it is easy for God to take the lowest person on Earth and give them a great position like He did with Joseph.
We get so caught up in our daily grind that it can start to seem more real than it is. Routine can get us bogged down without our eyes opened to the possible that anything can happen with God. Have faith in God. Love Him, study His Word daily. Be good and loving, and find out how you’re called to serve. For once you start serving God, you’re playing the role of a hero.
There are a couple ways of serving God. The one everyone thinks of is becoming clergy, but that isn’t the most common. The most common is to: Educate yourself always, work a moral job, live a frugal life, and to help the poor. And if you can’t get a job, keep educating yourself while you crash with friends and family until you can get one. You don’t need anything past a B.A. in college to get jobs in today’s world, but going past that by studying on the Internet will secure more skills than what you went to school for. It could be beneficial for high school graduates to educate themselves on the Internet for a few years before college. This way they’ll be more prepared going into college, and it will take less time and money to complete it.
So there are two broad ways of serving:
*Clergy
*Educate yourself always, work a moral job, live a frugal life, and help the poor with excess.
There are more ways of serving than this. You could encourage people, and help them find meaning in life. God tells us we all have a purpose, and that our lives carry meaning. Make it a habit not to insult people, or make jokes at their expense. God will make things fair in the next life for those who had it bad in this life can have it better in the next. The last will be first and the first will be last.
30 “But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” Matthew 19:30 (NKJV).
If this sounds like a rough deal for wealthy people in this life, we’re always encouraged to give sacrificially in this life to store up more Heavenly treasures. We also learn from God that those who make themselves great will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be made great.
So if you’re a really cool person with a great education, but have to accept some lowly job, God is still with you everywhere you go. Work what is placed before you with the faith you have. Life isn’t made up of what your possessions are. Encourage everyone you can, lift them up when they are down, and help people grow in faith whenever possible! If you just focus on this world, and the successes or failures you can get in this life, you’ll probably end up depressed. And all of us some day will have to meet their own end.
Wouldn’t you want to have lived your life doing good, loving everyone, making friends along the way, and helping the poor? We can’t earn our way into Heaven, for the Grace of Jesus won that. But it will be nice to have done good for God when we could, he might praise you for it. Fight the good fight and God might be looking at you like a hero in his story. God has already won the war against sin/death/evil,but he still allows anyone who is willing to be used by Him.
There were some heroes in the Bible. And nearly all of them messed up along the line somewhere. No matter your past, God forgives you. You could have been an evil outlaw for a majority of life, but Jesus invites you to more. You can close your life out as a good guy (or gal). Pray about where you should serve, but make sure to educate yourself with the Bible well before going into action.
“Enthusiasm without knowledge is not good; impatience will get you into trouble.” Proverbs 19:2 (GNT).
