Why is anyone confused why torture is bad policy in war? It seems some are: https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2014/12/09/americans-views-on-use-of-torture-in-fighting-terrorism-have-been-mixed/
People claim that torture gets more information and saves lives, but just like speed limits, it does the opposite, it kills more of your side and gets less info.
Lets explore: The average Muslim terrorist is pretty clueless about the world. This is seen when they escape the cult and speak of being pushed around like pawns by billionaire womanizer rich guys who don’t even adhere to the sect. Every Muslim who escapes the system does explain,’They just used us like pawns, like meat for the grinder, we were lied to’. So you have Muslims who are brain washed into killing so their rulers can make money and control. And there’s also cultural Muslims, afraid of being killed if they say they’re not Muslim…
So our enemy, lots of our enemy combatants don’t want to be there fighting to begin with or are misguided. If you’re not wanting to fight in a dumb war and push comes to shove where you’re in an entrapped position surrounded, you’ll surrender,”Whew, this stupid fighting is over finally!” But if you’re told your enemy will torture you and or kill you, things change.
When you believe surrender will lead to torture or death, you will fight to the death. So while many believe torture would get more information, you have less people surrendering. So while many people believe this information would save lives, you have enemy opponents fighting to the death. No, torture as a nation’s policy does the opposite of what you’d think, you lose lives and lose information.
And besides, you’re a despicable bad guy once you start hurting prisoners. That’s an ugly can of worms every way you look at it. Be a man, not a worm, don’t torture or be for torture.
