The thoughts of worry, anger or fear are mostly negative dwelling thoughts. The Bible says not to let the sun go down on your anger. You get rid of most of these negative thoughts by forgiving others and trusting in God for the future. Also think on the positive things in life. You can’t get negative thoughts out of your mind by focusing on them. You focus on other things.
Philippians 4:8 In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.
A lot of people never get attacked by the devil until they become a Christian since they didn’t need any extra help destroying themselves or they were easily manipulated by him. A lot of the war a Christian has is up in his or her mind.
You are a spiritual being, so really hating someone else is equivalent of murder for instance. So yo gotta be really well wishing others. Just wanting a beautiful person outside of wedlock is adultery. So you gotta keep yourself good and pure.
It is hard to see what others are going through, so we should not judge. Just focus on the good things in life and doing right yourself. And don’t dwell on negative thoughts. If negative thoughts come up, meet them with prayer and faith.
To forgive, first start by practicing in your mind to forgive small things before they happen. This actually works.
The measure you forgive others is the measure Jesus forgives you. It is very important to forgive.
Matthew 6:15 But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.
Forgiving big things is tough. So lets start small by forgiving small things. You do this by planning ahead in your mind.
If someone at the fast food restaurant messes up my order, try and eat it anyway. Forgive em, it is relentless cooking and not for much money. Have mercy on fast food workers.
If someone cuts you off in traffic but doesn’t hit you, don’t road rage. Instead, let it go. You know yourself that you’ve probably driven badly on mistake here and there.
If a drunken idiot insults you, forgive em, don’t look to fight em. People do insult each other especially when they don’t know that is evil. Be ready to forgive insults hurled at you, and pray they find Jesus.
Proverbs 12:16 When a fool is annoyed, he quickly lets it be known. Smart people will ignore an insult.
If you buy something online and it is terrible, maybe let it go if it didn’t cost a lot.
If someone hurriedly passes you in a store and bumps you, but doesn’t harm you, forgive em.
If someone cuts in front of you in line, don’t get abject disgusted with the lack of fairness. Remember, everyone is born different, have different lives and such. Not everyone has Jesus. Get people’s Jesus first then all fairness and generosity of the universe pours into you.
Pray for those who wrong you. Practice forgiving the small things and they will come natural to forgive. Hey, you never know, you might end up forgiving big things as you get accustomed to it.
A prayer that I like to pray is,”God, I forgive everyone that I have the right to forgive.”
We have a lot of rewards coming our way in Heaven, so keep your mind on that when you suffer.
1Peter1:3 Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope, 4 and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away. 5 They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God’s power for the salvation which is ready to be revealed at the end of time.6 Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer. 7 Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 You love him, although you have not seen him, and you believe in him, although you do not now see him. So you rejoice with a great and glorious joy which words cannot express, 9 because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him.*
People who have a big grin on their face even when things go by are derogatorily referred to as psychos sometimes. And I guess that is probably how the devil fears us when we’re so much into Jesus. When we’re so much into Jesus that we’re smiling to go to Heaven even though we’re in great pain, this is too much for the enemy.
If we get into suffering or maybe someone we know suffers, we should pray to get better. Even if we don’t get better, the resurrection is assured! We should say,”Glory to God in troubled times.”, just as when things go good to say,”Glory to God in good times.” Often the two times are the same for even if things are going well for ourselves, someone is having a rough go of things on this fallen world.
Remember Jesus forgives our evils. But he stock piles the times we were good! Jesus will likely praise you in times you were good, especially times when you resisted temptation. Some of us might not think we have a long list of being good, but you’d be surprised… especially since you repented of sin and started following Jesus.
If you haven’t done that yet, now is a great time! I know Jesus is real by many miracles. Follow Jesus, ask for forgiveness, tell him you’ll obey being good and loving. Start living less selfishly. Live for others. Help em out. Read your Bible and pray. Jesus loves ya! I wouldn’t lie to you. I have no cause to lie. Jesus is truth.
