Faith Club Church #14: The Sabbath

Opening:
Everyone needs to take a day off once in a while. God tells us to do it once a week. The Jewish Sabbath is on Friday at sundown til sunset Saturday. Christians and ChicFilA celebrate it on Sunday, I believe as a way to differentiate the faiths. I feel the Jewish faith and the Christian faith are tied together by God and the love of love. Many of the first apostles and the first preached to about Jesus were Jewish. So I take the Sabbath off on Saturday just so people know they can become Christian and still take off on Saturday.

If you cannot take either Saturday or Sunday off because of work, people reason you should at least take one day off. Make it a day that you do your own stuff a little less, and focus on prayer and communing with God. Do no work. Do not collect firewood. Do not do ecommerce. Do not buy stuff. Just stay mostly with your friends and family and chill. You can also be alone with God and talking with him about the week and the next week. Telling God about your days and your plans is awesome.

Prayer of Forgiveness:
God forgive us if we become so hardened workaholics that we do not take a day off. Forgive us if we become so lazy that we work less than we should. We want to give you honor. Guide our lives so we can help others. Amen.

Movements of the Holy Spirit:[This is from a 2 years ago in 2019]
My neck is temporarily bad. I feel like I did in February when I concussed it. I have trouble sleeping and was in pain. Then I realized I should take an Aspirin, and I feel okay now. Looking down doesn’t make my legs numb as much as before. And I’m basically pain free under the influence of an Aspirin. So all I gotta do is make sure I don’t move my neck around a lot. I had a stiff neck like this for six months once. It is no big deal. I feel like God is putting it on my heart not to worry about it, so I have no worries. God does not want you ever to worry or fear. Have confident, yo, even when things get tough. You have God on your side, and he can do anything. God is super powerful.

Today’s Blessing:
I hope you talk with God and chill out at least once a week. I pray you have confidence in our super powerful God. I pray you are blessed in ways that God wants. And I pray you can get your head above water health and financially to help the poor some. God bless ya!

Praise for God:
God is a cool guy who made us to be loved. If he made us to work ourselves to death, he wouldn’t give us a day off. When Adam disobeyed God, God did put a curse on Adam to work the days of his life and then return to dust. But if you think about this, in a way it is a blessing. God also provides a resurrection so we can escape sin. If we lived forever with sin in us, or in this fallen world apart from God, dictators would be terrible. So dying and being raised again with a glorious body isn’t totally awful… It sounds interesting, what comes next? Surely, lets not hurry it, lets help everyone we can… And as every man can attest, working is kinda like a dude should do to help his fellow dudes and ladies. Anyway, God is cool, and his plan is good for us. Don’t ever despair, God is on your side.

Prayer Cues:

Pray police, firefighters, paramedics, doctors, nurses and surgeons do their job well.

Pray American and Israeli military are protected against our foes who seek to do us woe. It is not a sin to be a soldier. We learn this from John the Baptist. It is only a sin when you use your position of power to extract loot from others, like a conquest war to get resources… or an individual soldier being dishonest.

Pray the roads are safe for travelers.

Scripture of the Day:
Luke 3:14 Some soldiers also asked him(John the Baptist),”What about us? What are we to do?” He said to them,”Don’t take money from anyone by force or accuse anyone falsely. Be content with your pay.”

*Notice he did not say to stop being soldiers, but to be honest ones.
