My Favorite Part of Isaiah 53

Isaiah 53:1 The people reply,“Who would have believed what we now report? Who could have seen the Lord’s hand in this?

Seriously, who could have expected Jesus’ death to mean the defeat of evil and open the gates to eternal life? Everyone was expecting a triumphant hero Messiah maybe on a flying horse or something to rally the nations and defeat the enemies of Israel singlehandedly. Not many people were expecting a dude from a dirt poor town in Nazareth to be the city that the King of Kings lives in. No one expected this guy preaching in the land to last. He was told to go home to his family. His own followers thought he was going to rise to power depite being told of his death. When Jesus got arrested, his followers noped out and denied him. No one thought it was going to be this way, not even the evil spirits which marched along a willing participant in their own ultimate demise, but only Jesus’ temporary demise. For he came back to life, and his followers, once fearful of dying became no longer worried for Jesus came back from death!

So who could have seen this coming? Isaiah some 700ish years before Jesus’ life. Read the rest of Isaiah 53: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah+53&version=GNT

God is good and loving. Jesus loves you. He is worth befriending.
