Life isn’t made up of how much stuff we have. It is made up of how much we love others.
A lot of corporate raiders throw out love to get more stuff. Scammers take advantage of people to get their stuff. People at the top are sometimes thinking of making the wealth divide greater instead of helping people at the bottom get enough food to eat.
I think this is why we hear from Jesus that many who are first will be last and many who are first will be last.
The saying you may have heard thrown around in the world is,”He who dies with the most toys wins.” But it is closer to the truth that,”He who dies with the most toys loses.” Remember Schindler’s List? Oscar Schindler has terrible regrets for not selling his jewelry and car to save more lives. I’m not advocating selling your tools to get more wealth, but we live in a world where 33 cents a day is the difference between life and death for many. If we donated more, we could help the poor more.
And if you’re struggling to make ends meet, but want to help the poor oh so much, don’t stress over that. Only those who have stuff to give can help the poor. God sees your heart. He sees if you could save up an extra ten bucks a month that you could help the poor more. It isn’t even worth being greedy for money even if all you’re doing is donating. It is better to live with your heart loving others and don’t sweat money. Seek first the Kingdom and God can provide.
Are you kind to everyone you can be? When you socialize, do you lift people up and not say negative things about them? We should be encouragers and not discouragers. Be good and loving to everyone. They say you can’t take it with you. While this is true of stuff, I believe love comes with us to the next life.
My prayer is that you have enough faith to try and be good and loving to others and stop sweating money. If our life has extra toil, that is okay because we need to accept humble duties and be patient no matter how wealthy we are. Ask God for help occasionally. It gives him glory and you help.
