Prophecies of Jesus in Old Testament Part I

As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up.

John 3:14 As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior.

This is a double prophecy!

It prophecies Jesus dying on the cross by Jesus himself.

It also shows that the snake on the post in Moses’ time is prophecy of Jesus dying on the cross.

Remember, people who were bit by snakes looked upon the snake on the pole and were cured. When we look to Jesus on the cross, we are cured from sin. We’re all serpent bit from Adam and Eve’s sin, so the symbolism is intentional.

There are many places that Moses wrote about Jesus. You can find more here: https://fatherspiritson.com/articles/jim-Jesusinot.html

Isaiah 52-53, prophecy of Jesus, hundreds of years before he lived.

Isaiah 52:13 The Lord says,“My servant will succeed in his task; he will be highly honored.

I like to honor Jesus by proclaiming him to you guys and gals.

14 Many people were shocked when they saw him; he was so disfigured that he hardly looked human.

After being beaten so severely and pierced by nails, his flesh was manged so much it was hard to tell the bloody body was even a person.

15 But now many nations will marvel at him, and kings will be speechless with amazement. They will see and understand something they had never known.”

After dying on the cross out of love. More people understand just how important love is. This was the ultimate act of love. People didn’t understand why it had to be until it is explained to them. Through Love, Jesus defeated death, the devil and evil spirits. Jesus opened the way to eternal life. He wants us all to love each other. If everyone is kind to one another. Everyone is kind to you.

Isaiah 53:1The people reply, “Who would have believed what we now report? Who could have seen the Lord’s hand in this?

Really, even being told about the crucifixion of Jesus, people don’t understand why it took place. It makes sense that Jesus loved us so much though.

2 It was the will of the Lord that his servant grow like a plant taking root in dry ground.

Jesus was a poor kid from a poor family. He was homeless in his adult life.

He had no dignity or beauty to make us take notice of him. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing that would draw us to him.

Sorry nationalistic pictures of Jesus. Jesus was not super handsome so people took notice of him. He was plain looking. The humble God made his own self out to be humble looking.

3 We despised him and rejected him; he endured suffering and pain. No one would even look at him— we ignored him as if he were nothing.

Crucifixion was so common then. People did not get treated right then. People today do not get treated right often. Can we do a better job respecting people’s rights to be alive and share this Earth with each other? We should be better. Jesus teaches us that life matters. People should have cared about him more back then. We should care about people more today.

4 “But he endured the suffering that should have been ours, the pain that we should have borne. All the while we thought that his suffering was punishment sent by God. 5 But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.

Can you think of a couple reasons why you deserve punished for your actions? A lot of time we might do something wrong, but not get punished. Some people power trip doing bad stuff until someone stops them and that can take a long time. If we think about it, we’ve done wrong here and there. Is it enough to be punished by death? Well, in many cases, maybe yes. Either way, we have done wrong, and Jesus did no wrong. He took punishment designed for us and took it upon himself.

6 All of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going his own way.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who saves the flock even if it costs him his life. Jesus loves us sheeple.

But the Lord made the punishment fall on him, the punishment all of us deserved. 7 “He was treated harshly, but endured it humbly; he never said a word. Like a lamb about to be slaughtered, like a sheep about to be sheared, he never said a word.

He did not say a word in front of his accusers many times so much that they remarked about it.

8 He was arrested and sentenced and led off to die, and no one cared about his fate.

All four Gospels detail his sham trial where he was put to death though he did no wrong.

He was put to death for the sins of our people.

It was not that death has power over him, but that he has power over death. Jesus willingly took this death on himself to save us.

9 He was placed in a grave with those who are evil, he was buried with the rich, even though he had never committed a crime or ever told a lie.”

A rich man came for his body and buried it in a quality grave. Jesus did not stay in the grave, no matter how high quality it is. Jesus came back to life because he loves us and wants to spend eternity with us.

10 The Lord says,“It was my will that he should suffer; his death was a sacrifice to bring forgiveness. And so he will see his descendants; he will live a long life, and through him my purpose will succeed. 11 After a life of suffering, he will again have joy; he will know that he did not suffer in vain. My devoted servant, with whom I am pleased, will bear the punishment of many and for his sake I will forgive them.

It was God’s will that Jesus take this difficult trial and sacrificial death. Just as Abraham had to offer his first born, God also had to sacrifice his own son. That was prophecy of this event.

12 And so I will give him a place of honor, a place among the great and powerful. He willingly gave his life and shared the fate of evil men. He took the place of many sinners and prayed that they might be forgiven.”

This scripture was written hundreds of years before Jesus Christ lived. It was not edited in reverse because we have scripture in the Dead Sea Scrolls dating before Jesus. This is prophecy that you see details Jesus’ life, death and life beyond. May God forever have honor! Jesus Christ be praised. I talk about Jesus because I want to honor him. I know he is real. I pray you guys and gals believe. Jesus Christ is LORD! He loves you!
