Uncovering Some of the Devil’s Lies

Here are some of Satan’s lies in no particular order: “Self-destruction is cool, drugs are cool, tobacco is cool, heavy drinking is cool, bein’ dumb is cool, datin’ a dumb woman is more fun, it is uncool to preach, material stuff satisfies if you only get enough of it, beauty is a sin, any song lyrics are okay, gangsters are cool, crime is cool, mafias are cool, if everyone else is obese it is okay for me too, it is okay to hurt back those who hurt you, God isn’t real, and neither am I.”

If you self destroy, you eventually end up with nothing. If you exercise self-destruction by taking drugs you might permanently damage your brain or kidneys. I know a guy who ate some random mushrooms and had to get a kidney transplant. He got it off a tiny man of small physical stature we commonly call a dwarf. It is a tiny kidney, but it keeps my friend from the horrors of dialysis. The one who donated the kidney may be just a dwarf to our physical eyes, but that act of donating the kidney was the act of a spiritual collossus. The devil’s lie here is: “Self destruction is cool! Drugs are cool! Why invest in an eternal high that never ends when you can trade it to have the tiniest of temporary highs now instead?”

Remember what Jesus said, “Many who are last now will be first, and many who are first will be last.” So no matter your status now, just do good. Get good with God and He will reward. Who cares about our status now? Work hard, and help others. In Heaven after the dealing is done, that’s when you finally can enjoy your stuff as things no one can take off us. Also, I don’t know about you, but investing in my Heavenly Body which could look like literally anything, is an awesome thing. That gives me hope and patient anticipation.

30 “But many who now are first will be last, and many who now are last will be first.” Matthew 19:30 (GNT).

I went to a church once that said tobacco is not a sin. I disagree. I think tobacco is a sin. If you do self destructive things, you are sinning. Our body is the Temple of The Holy Spirit. We should not willingly destroy our body. Tobacco very frequently gives cancer. This drags the hospital system down hurting others chances to be healthy. So right there, you harm others with your chance of cancer. Tobacco 100% of the time impacts your lung capacity. Lung capacity helps us enjoy life by dance and relaxing. Bad lungs can cause trouble sleeping. Tobacco 100% of the time makes you look uglier and older faster. If you’re a girl who wants to look pretty, why make yourself look like an aged prune quicker? That makes no sense. The devil’s lie here is: “Hey be a rebel like me, and smoke tobacco. You can destroy yourself saving me the problem of having to do that myself.”

19 “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God;” 1 Corinthians 6:19 (GNT).

Gangsters and mafia seem cool to some. It dates back to the time of Billy the Kid in the U.S. and even further probably. If a guy who breaks the law, but is generous to everyone around him otherwise, the illusion is that he’s a good guy. And if you know better yourself, are you going to get on a practicing criminal’s bad side? So you can’t even talk about them being bad in public. Remember the good oldies song, “I Heard it Through the Grapevine?” Well, if just one person hears you disrespecting a gangster, and tells em, you might wind up in trouble. Gangsters do all sorts of crime which I will not list. Many of them do hurt their fellow man very tragically. We should do unto others as we’d have them do unto us as Jesus teaches.

There was another good oldies song, “Bad Bad Leeroy Brown”. It talks about a man who wanted to be badder than everyone else. The result is that he got in a fight and even though he might have been badder and stronger, the other guy still won that one fight. When you’re fighting your fellow man with guns and knives, you can’t ever lose even just one single fight. Losing a fight with guns or knives might mean you could become dismembered or even die. But ever since the death of alternative in 2000, we have had terrible bands like Limp Bizkit push the idea of being tough and fighting as cool. This just leads to impressionable young kids fighting others instead of following the country or God’s law. There are a lot of gangster rap artists that push ways of being a terrible individual to hurt others. They negatively influence kids also. The devil want us to believe this lie: “If you ain’t gettin yourself, you’re losing. Be tough and fight your fellow man anyway you can imagine with no rules. I think I didn’t get enough from God, I understand. I now want everyone harming each other.”

11 I realized another thing, that in this world fast runners do not always win the races, and the brave do not always win the battles. The wise do not always earn a living, intelligent people do not always get rich, and capable people do not always rise to high positions. Bad luck happens to everyone. Ecclesiastes 9:11 (GNT).

Remember, it doesn’t matter if you are the best with a weapon. Someone will still win versus you eventually.

Some kids go so far as to not even want to try in school because they want to grow up to be gangster. In the country, kids don’t want to try in school because they want to grow up to be a farmer. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a farmer, but being smart will help you manage your farm better. There is even a country song containing the lyrics, “I want to be dumb.” My uncle says, “Being dumb hurts!” He says this after he wrecks himself. He bought into self destruction and stuff for a while. Be smart, strive to learn. You might even help society more than you thought. The devil’s lie here is: ”Hey, you gotta be pretty dumb to wanna be dumb. Hey, you wanna be dumb and listen to me?”

13 Stupidity is like a loud, ignorant, shameless woman. 14 She sits at the door of her house or on a seat in the highest part of town, 15 and calls out to people passing by, who are minding their own business: 16 “Come in, ignorant people!” To the foolish she says, 17 “Stolen water is sweeter. Stolen bread tastes better.” 18 Her victims do not know that the people die who go to her house, that those who have already entered are now deep in the world of the dead.

 Proverbs 9:13-18 (GNT).
