Current Cultural War

Culture war stuff isn’t particularly fun to talk about because it is the ways and methodologies of how the devil is attacking the church.   If you get into the nitty-gritty of the tactics the devil uses, you end up seeing lies, threats, fear, bribery, propaganda, and all that stuff.   If you serve God, you need to be ready to stand up to the fear and evil that gets thrown out, or you’ll just be another casualty.

Let’s start with the basic one that most everyone sees:

Today’s culture, as pushed by Hollywood and media is that to try and convince the public that sexual perversion is okay and not a sin. The Bible says that all kinds of sexual perversion are a sin.   Even wanting to bed someone who isn’t your spouse is the sin of adultery even if you didn’t commit the act.   We learn in Matthew 5-6 that he didn’t come to make more things permissible but to show that it is even more severe than we read in the Law of Moses.

So if God says that sexual perversion is a sin, and Hollywood believes that sexual perversion is not a sin, only one of the two can be right.  God is always right.  So it is easy to see that Hollywood is in the wrong.  But Hollywood is not so easily phased by this because they actually then think that God is not real and then they want to marginalize Christians and Christianity because they feel their war is against the believers of the Bible.

This is a fact.   This is what we’re operating under now.   The way Hollywood operates is that they will push shows that are high in sexuality, perversion, and dirty jokes.  One thing Hollywood wants is that we as a culture become comfortable with depraved sexuality in general.  So you might think watching a show with depraved individuals who try and have sex casually is funny (and there are many like this).   But we as Christians should not be supporting tv shows that have sinful dirty jokes in them.  We can’t protest a show for more people will wind up watching, but we can each as individuals refuse to watch.

Proverbs 17:14

The start of an argument is like the first break in a dam; stop it before it goes any further. (GNT).

When you talk about sin, often you will hear people throw out,”Don’t judge me.” as if it was a pass that they could do anything they want.  If they do want to use the Bible, they need to accept everything that is in it. And repentance of sin is something they need to do.  If someone throws out,”Don’t judge me.” as if it is a pass to get away with anything they want, they are using that phrase in error.

If you have kids, watch what they watch on tv.  Make sure they’re not watching shows with crude cursing or sexual jokes.   Do you know they have crude cursing and sexual jokes even on prime-time television these days? You need to be really careful what kids watch.   Foul mouth cursing is a sin.  This is another thing today’s culture does not get.   People think people can be a good guy or gal, and still be able to curse like a sailor.  God wants us not to have foul mouths.  And we should not be watching television or movies with that in it.

Philippians 4:8

In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. (GNT).

Ephesians 5:4

Nor is it fitting for you to use language which is obscene, profane, or vulgar. Rather you should give thanks to God. (GNT).

Colossians 3:8

But now you must get rid of all these things: anger, passion, and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from your lips. (GNT).

All this stuff is very basic simple stuff, and I’m sure many of you have seen it.  What you might not know is all the backdoor dealings and bribery money that goes around to make sure this or that show makes perversion look acceptable.   Money and groups pay attention to that.  They want people to feel real positive emotion via theater towards people who feel perversion is okay.   It really is Hollywood’s fight against God because God teaches us that perversion is not okay, but it is a sin.   People might not understand why sexual perversion is a sin, but we should do everything God teaches even if we don’t understand why.   Afterall, remember Eve did not understand why eating a fruit was wrong.   The only thing she knew is that God said not to do it.
